Our Story
Katie Fine grew up working for a variety of small businesses, including a local coffee shop. After she graduated from Auburn University (War Eagle), she was given the opportunity to buy her hometown coffee shop. As it turned out, a 25-year-old entrepreneur hasn’t had enough time to develop a credit history. Although traditional lending wasn’t in the cards, Katie didn’t give up! She decided to try a Kickstarter. True to its name, this Kickstarter not only initiated pledge money, but it found an interested local investor who took a chance on her and her dream. Four months later, Karmas was born in 2015!
Since opening, Katie has been hard at work building a family with her high school sweetheart and right-hand man, Jacob. Together, they have been actively growing the business in hopes of impacting their local community. Karma’s mission is to create good coffee so that good people can inspire great change. We wake up every day ready to energize our guests with the coffee they need to change lives and ultimately the world.
The community has honored us several time over the years. Karmas has won the Cullman Times Best of the Best award seven years in a row. We have also been a four-time recipient of Alabama Magazine’s Best of Bama. Because of the trust our neighbors and businesses have put in us, we continually look for more ways to serve them. In 2022, we added a full-service coffee cart available for corporate and private events. Looking to the future, our goal is to add to our current sustainable program by sourcing more local goods. We want to offer customers the freshest and healthiest menu items available by harvesting from our on-site garden or turning to local growers as a significant source of our food supply.
We could never have made it this far without our amazing team and loyal community. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We look forward to serving old friends and meeting new ones.
